Known as the “Forgotten Medicinal Miracle,” Tamanu oil grows in a very small area in the South Pacific and is made from the nut of the Tamanu tree. This wonder oil naturally restore lipids in the skin, which supports natural collagen synthesis and improves skin elasticity. Tamanu has so many amazing properties:
Demonstrate significant antimicrobial activity, which helps destroy acne and other bacterial skin diseases.
Contain powerful anti-inflammatory components, including 4 phenylcoumarin calophyllolide and several xanthones, which helps heal rashes and sores.
Penetrate all three layers of the skin, (the epidermis, dermis, hypodermis), allowing it to affect more than just the skin’s surface. Tamanu is a great help for wrinkle reduction and for soothing the symptoms of psoriasis. • Contain calophyllic acid, a component proven to minimize the appearance of old and new scars.
Provide protection from the elements, by creating a natural barrier on the surface of the skin. Some research suggests it may provide sun protection.
Jeannine, the creator of Tamanu Oil Lab, had undergone several back surgeries which led her to join the holistic wellness community, and when she discovered Tamanu Oil she knew that she had to share this oil with the world. Tamanu Oil Lab has 7 Tamanu oil blends, each with a different purpose and all designed to beautify skin and soothe your soul. I tried the Radiant blend which contains organic cold-pressed Tamanu oil sustainably sourced from the small, pristine island of Malekula in the South Pacific, Rosehip Seed Oil & Ylang Ylang Oil.
What it does:
Lifts and firms the face, enhancing contours, resilience and overall appearance
Strengthens the collagen network and improves elasticity
Reduces fine lines and wrinkles and hydrates the skin
Powerful anti-inflammatory properties reduce redness
Antibacterial properties clarify the complexion to clear up and prevent breakouts
Visibly repairs sun damaged skin while encouraging cell renewal
Counteracts environmental aggressors while pro-actively addressing the aging process
Promotes healthy skin functioning: boosting its anti-aging defense
Reinforces and fortifies the skin’s structure
Corrects irregular pigmentation and age spots
Transforms and brightens lackluster skin
Tamanu oil has a very strong medicinal-like scent (that reminds me of licorcie?) and the ylang ylang oil adds a beautiful floral note that I find therapeutic. This is a deep rich oil and for about 6 weeks now Since February I started adding a few drops as a last skincare step before bed, neck moisturizer and hand moisturizer. It provides intense nourishment and didn’t cause any clogged pores or breakouts. I was specifically looking to see how it affected a bright red scar from a horrible pimple months ago and a fresh curling iron burn scar on my hand. It’s now faded to a much lighter dull scar that disappears completely with some BB cream.
Facial oils are an essential part of my nightly skincare routine no matter the time of year and while all work to give me a glowing & hydrated complexion in the morning I felt like this tamanu oil blend was special in that my skin looked particularly clear & even due to its powerful anti-inflammatory properties. I regularly see tamanu oil included as one of the many ingredients in an oil blend but it was a pleasure to try it as the primary ingredient. Plus this high-quality product is affordable at around $30.
