Loverdure Natural Cosmetics Review

Loverdure is a Bay Area-based natural skincare line offering 100% natural, mostly organic, vegan skincare products specially with sensitive skin in mind. The products are freshly hand made in small batches in their studio to ensure the highest quality. I tried out 2 face oils (which come in a beautiful unique gold double-toned glass bottle with push dropper) for nearly 7 weeks, a face soap & lip balm. Read on to learn more about Loverdure’s products and an interview with the founder herself.

The Warrior Anti-Aging Face Oil

This was my favorite product out of the 4 I tried and it’s also their #1 bestselling product. I loved the elegant gold double-toned glass dropper bottle and found the pure lush scent of immortelle to be so calming before bed. It’s 99.5% organic and made with a nourishing blend of cold pressed seed oils, essential oils of precious flowers and herbs, botanical extracts and Vitamin E. I apply 4-5 drops of this all over my face and neck after my moisturizer and my skin absorbs it all overnight. I wake up to hydrated, fresh-looking skin in the morning. This oil is designed for mature/aging skin and though my skin isn’t considered mature I’m all about anti-aging and prevention. You can also try out the oils by purchasing travel sizes ($13).

Precious Moist Ultra-Rich Moisturizing Face Oil

This oil is designed for dry, parched skin and contains Argan, Shea, Turkish Rose Otto & French Neroli oil. It has a sophisticated floral scent from the Neroli & Jasmine oils and is a lightweight oil that’s still ultra-nourishing. These oils were tested on the most sensitive skin and found to be suitable. While I don’t have super sensitive skin I do sometimes break out from certain oil products and was relieved that both of these oils didn’t cause any reaction. I not only used a few drops of this on my face, but also on my neck and hands before sleeping.

Coconut Cream & Shea Butter Face Soap

This is a gentle face soap that doesn’t leave your skin feeling overly stripped and is made with Coconut Cream, Shea Butter and oils to nourish skin as it cleans. I always use an oil cleanser and/or face wipe to get rid of SPF, which I wear everyday indoors or outdoors, and makeup. Then I go in with a 2nd cleanser and found that this soap would leave my skin feeling squeaky clean and slightly taut. Most face soaps come in the same rectangular shape as hand soaps so I appreciated that this came in a beautiful round flower design. This is sold out and will be back in stock on Mar 3, 2017.

Ingredients

Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Palm Oil (certified & sustainably sourced), Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Distilled Water, Sodium Hydroxide*, Coconut Cream, Kaolin Clay, Sodium Lactate, Bergamot Essential Oil (Bergapten Free), Lavender Essential Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Vitamin E.

INTERVIEW WITH THE FOUNDER TUGBA ALPARSLAN-

What was the inspiration behind creating Loverdure?

This was a very very long time dream of mine. As a child, I remember myself mixing my dad’s perfumes with my mom’s perfumes, some lemon, spices and room perfume J However, I ended up being a computer engineer! I worked as a Project and Portfolio Manager in a very big Telco company for many years. But at each and every spare moment I found myself testing cosmetic products and reading ingredient labels and mixing herbs, clays and oils. This love reached to a point where I could no longer resist. And here I am. Also my skin was one of the reasons that led me here. I have very very sensitive skin, and as you can guess nearly none of the commercial products worked for me. I was so disappointed with them – though I paid a fortune. Since I started Loverdure, my sensitive skin turned into a gift for me because I have the chance to test my products on very sensitive skin first hand. Each product I release is tested out on my fragile skin then friends and family. Afterwards I release them. I have amazing feedback from my customers who have sensitive skin.

– How did the name Loverdure come about?

Our company name is created with 2 words that describe our vision LOVE + VERDURE (old French for green, lush) It is our ultimate goal and responsibility our customers love our green beauty products. And we do create our products using all green ingredients with love.

– If you had to pick 1, what would be your favorite product from your line?

It’s hard to choose but I would pick The Warrior – 100% Natural Anti-aging Face Oil. It’s 99.5% organic. THE WARRIOR is an anti-aging face oil, an all-natural blend of super nutritious, cold pressed seed oils (such as Organic Argan, Organic Golden Jojoba and Organic Sunflower oil), essential oils of precious flowers and herbs (such as Rose, Immortelle, Seabuckthorn, Jasmine..), botanical extracts and Vitamin E. This blend deeply nourishes and tones the skin. Reduces fine lines by deeply moisturizing the skin. Combats with skin discoloration effectively. Ideal for all skin types, and a perfect choice for mature/maturing skins. And it is a key to a glowing, cashmere soft skin!

– What plans do you have for the future of Loverdure?

First and foremost happy customers. Before I market my product to a person, I spend a long informative time with my customers explaining to them how to read labels, which ingredients to avoid from and why natural products will be their best friend in time. This is a lot of effort, but seeing the amusement in people eyes is really worth it. Our aim is not just to penetrate to the market.  Raising awareness is equally crucial. And I am glad there is a “back to nature” trend. We are heading back to where we belong. In the mean time I am working on new formulas which our customers will enjoy deeply.
