How Is Caraway Non-Toxic?
Conventional pans and pots are coated with PTFE (such as Teflon®), lead, cadmium, and other toxic materials. In fact it’s in more than 95% of non-stick pans. While you’re cooking, these harmful ingredients can perch into your food and stay in your body for decades.
Caraway is made without any toxic materials like PFAS, PTFE, PFOA.
The FDA presented its findings from three studies on the prevalence of PFAS at the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry’s annual European meeting. The premise, that the chemicals have been widely used in nonstick cookware, contact paper, food packaging, cleaning products, and other industrial products have leached into our food and contaminated our water supply. These chemicals are linked to liver damage, certain types of cancers, thyroid disease, infertility, high cholesterol, obesity and more.
They’re also better for the environment. During the manufacturing process, Caraway cookware releases up to 60% less CO2 into the environment compared to traditional non-stick coatings.
Caraway instead has a mineral based ceramic coating so nothing iffy leaches into your cooking.
What I Like About Caraway Nonstick Pan
- Surprisingly heat up quickly and evenly (Caraway pans have an aluminum core)
- Caraway is oven-safe thanks to stainless steel and enameled surfaces
- Beautifully designed
- Less oil and butter is needed
- No rusting!
- So easy to clean!
These are hefty pans so I expected the Caraway pan to take quite a bit longer to heat up than my lighter pan, but that wasn’t the case.
They’re also oven safe up to 550 degrees, so I can switch to baking my dish without having to transfer it to a different container.
There’s so much slip to the Caraway pan I need far less oil than I normally would and that also means less accidents of burning the surface.
Cleaning the pan is such a breeze too compared to my conventional pans. Leftover food sauce glide off easily with a swipe, so less time and energy is spent in the cleanup process.
Can Caraway make eggs without sticking?
No. I put it to the test and you still do need a small amount of oil.
What I Don’t Like About Caraway Nonstick Pan
- Not enough size options
The pans are on the heavier side, and while Caraway does offer a mini pan, there’s still not enough size options. I have a small kitchen and don’t cook for a family of 5 so I prefer smaller sizes!
