Meet Green Life in Dublin Blogger Renata!

renata

Since joining the green beauty community I’ve met many beautiful sweet souls online and one of them is Renata of Green Life in Dublin! She always has such in-depth and honest posts on green beauty products and lifestyle. You can tell she pours her heart and soul into blogging and as the only blogger in Ireland she is making waves. She recently reached out to me to feature an interview with me on her blog and I thought it was such a great idea I wanted to feature her here on Organic Beauty Lover too!

Get to know the beauty & brains behind the blog Green Life in Dublin!

Tell us how Green Life in Dublin came to life

I started blogging about 8 years ago, but it wasn’t about green beauty then, and the blog was called Sleepyhead’s World (haha) – I think I didn’t know what I was doing back then, the blog scene was just starting out and I was curious to try it for myself too. I was blogging about everyday life, shopping, recipes, DIYs and such, but I got bored of it and I left it for two or three years. During those gap years I went green, and then I got this idea to blog again and journal my experience. So I changed my blog to Green Life In Dublin and the rest is history. Really glad to be a part of the green beauty community!
What is your favorite part about being a green beauty blogger?
My favourite part is when people thank me for what I do and telling me I helped them to make the switch, or asking for advice on how to do it. That really makes it worth it for me.
What if any obstacles have you had to overcome as a green beauty blogger?
People not wanting to hear what I have to say is one, even in my inner circle, I get that blank face when I tell someone about how toxic their products are. I was told once “I will come to you if I will get cancer or some other disease, for now I don’t care about it” I mean can you believe it? Another difficult part is not having any products I want available locally to me. In Dublin we don’t have Wholefoods, Detox Market or even Sephora where I could go in and browse the products to my hearts content, I am reduced to the health shops (with not that much of a choice) and online shopping. And as we all know, not only high custom fees are so much fun (not!!!), but it is difficult to guess your shade when looking at the screen, I have an array of expensive mistakes to prove it! (We can’t return open products in the EU, whether in store or online) so samples are the way to go these days 🙂
Tell us your favorite health tips
It is very important to take care of ourselves mentally as well as psychically, so take your time to relax and do the things that makes you happy! Learn to share your load with others, involve your kids and your husband in the errands, you don’t have to do it all by yourself! Us women especially tend to take care of everybody else first and neglect ourselves. Listen to this, it is so important to make someone happy. Start with yourself girlfriend! Want to put your feet up and read a book for a while? Do that! Do whatever that makes your heart sing, be it yoga, painting, masking, whatever! Oh, and rooibos tea with ginger, lemon and some honey will keep you well in winter. Already sick? OreganolP73 is my secret weapon that I keep telling everyone about 🙂
What’s your favorite movie(s)?
Too many to mention, I like comedies and movies based on real facts and stories. Hollywood end-of-the-world style movies don’t interest me much. As far as TV shows go, I like Vikings, Game of Thrones and Black Sails.
What’s the best vacation you’ve ever had?
It is in the future 🙂 There are so many places I want to go and see (and maybe do a gap year round the world trip once the kids will be grown up) but one place I really want to go back to is the pink beach in Crete! It is not as pink as you see in Pinterest photos, but it is amazing. Ibiza is always a good idea too 🙂 Always great time with or without the kids!
If you had your own green beauty line, what would you call it?
I am not sure about the name yet, but I do have packaging in my head already. And the inside of the boxes would be pink – to bring smile to people’s faces 🙂 Maybe I would call it simply “Green Life”? Let’s just think for a minute – “Green Life Moisturiser” , “Green Life Mascara” – sounds good or not?
What would be your debut product?
No idea yet? Maybe a line of scrubs or deodorant as they are so easy to do? Or manuka honey masks?
What’s your top favorite green beauty products?
At the moment I am obsessed with anything Mahalo. And DIY manuka masks. Post to come, pinky swear!
If you could give advice to your 18 year old self what would you tell her?
To stop worrying so much and do not let anyone influence my decisions. It is your life, so live it the way you want to. And don’t use toxic products!
